IOM3 Events Code of Conduct

Version 2.0 | Effective from 13 October 2026

Our Commitment

IOM3 is committed to providing a welcoming, inclusive and harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of age, disability, ethnicity, race, nationality, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, marital or family status, pregnancy or maternity status, religion or belief, socio-economic background, neurodiversity, physical appearance, body size, caring responsibilities, or any other characteristic protected by law.

We value the diversity of our community and welcome participation from people of all backgrounds, experiences and perspectives. All attendees, speakers, exhibitors, sponsors, volunteers, organisers and staff are expected to contribute to a professional, respectful and positive event experience.

Creating an Inclusive Environment

All participants are expected to:

  • Treat others with dignity, respect and professionalism.
  • Listen respectfully to different viewpoints and experiences.
  • Use inclusive and respectful language.
  • Be mindful that attendees may come from a wide range of cultures, backgrounds and experiences.
  • Respect people's names, pronouns and identities.
  • Support an environment that is accessible and welcoming for all.
  • Consider the impact of their behaviour on others, regardless of intention.
  • Raise concerns appropriately when they witness behaviour that conflicts with this Code.

Unacceptable Behaviour

Harassment, discrimination, bullying, intimidation, exclusionary conduct or unwanted behaviour will not be tolerated. This may include offensive comments, gestures, actions or communication relating to a person's protected characteristics, identity, background, appearance, health condition, disability, neurodiversity, beliefs, or personal circumstances. Harassment can occur in person, online, in presentations, networking sessions, social events, exhibition spaces, digital platforms, emails, messaging applications and social media associated with the event.

Accessibility and Inclusion

IOM3 aims to make its events accessible and inclusive for all participants. We encourage attendees to inform the organising team of any accessibility, communication, dietary, caring, religious, cultural or other requirements in advance wherever possible.

The organising team will make reasonable efforts to accommodate such requirements and remove barriers to participation.

Reporting Concerns

If you experience, witness or become aware of behaviour that may breach this Code of Conduct, please speak to an IOM3 staff member or a member of the organising committee as soon as possible. Reports will be handled seriously, sensitively and as confidentially as circumstances allow. The wellbeing and safety of those affected will be our priority.

Consequences of Breaches

Participants asked to stop unacceptable behaviour are expected to comply immediately.

IOM3 reserves the right to take any action considered appropriate, including:

  • Verbal or written warnings.
  • Removal from specific event activities.
  • Removal from the event without refund.
  • Restriction from attending future IOM3 events.
  • Referral to IOM3's disciplinary procedures or, where appropriate, law enforcement authorities.

Working Together

IOM3 believes that diverse perspectives strengthen our profession and our community. We are committed to ensuring that all participants can engage confidently and respectfully in our events. By attending an IOM3 event, you agree to contribute to an environment that is welcoming, inclusive and free from harassment, discrimination, bullying and intimidation.
